Puting beliung besar melanda rantau ini kurang daripada 72 jam sebelum ribut ini dan membunuh 13 orang, termasuk 6 orang di Harrisburg, Illinois, Tuscaloosa, Alabama Dayton .Pada pagi 2 Mac, ia telah dinaikkan taraf .Tengah Tennessee dan tengah Kentucky menjalar ke ke Tengah dan Selatan Indiana dan selatan Ohio .
