Teraupo'o - Wikipedia Bahasa Melayu, ensiklopedia bebas

Teraupo'o (s. 1855 – 23 Disember 1918) merupakan orang Tahiti (Maohi)^{[nota 1]} pemimpin penentang pulau Raiatea dan Tahaa yang melawani pemerintahan Perancis dari 1887 hingga 1897 semasa Perang Kepulauan Leeward yang dekad lamanya. Selepas beliau dikalahkan dan ditangkap, beliau dibuang negeri ke New Caledonia sehingga 1905. Pengikutnya dikenali sebagai Teraupiste termasuk majoriti orang asal Raiatea dan Tahaa.

Nota

^ Maohi atau Mā’ohi ialah nama bahasa Tahiti bagi orang Tahiti peribumi dari Kepulauan Masyarakat tanpa perkaitan dengan with pulau-pulau Tahiti yang terbesar dan teramai penduduknya. Eksonim bahasa Inggeris lain wujud untuk pulau-pulau yang lain juga termasuk Raiatean bagi penduduk Raiatea.^[1]
